Der Tierbefreiungsaktivist Brian Vaillancourt wurde im September 2020 nach sieben Jahren Haft aus dem Gefängnis entlassen!
Brian Vaillancourt wurde am 09. Februar 2013 verhaftet. Ihm wird vorgeworfen einen Brandanschlag auf einen Schlachthof names Mc Donalds in Rosemont verübt haben zu wollen. Er wurde zu 9 Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt. Vermutlich wird Brian erst am 25. September 2020 aus der Haft entlassen.

Brian is an ALF operative convicted of the attempted arson of a slaughterhouse called McDonald’s in Rosemont. His expected release date is September 25, 2020. In addition to his covert forms of activism, he was integrally involved in Eleventh Hour’s above ground efforts to expose and confront vivisection crimes. One of his last letters received by NIO’s founder saddened us. We believe Brian is not getting the support he needs and deserves.
While another New Year’s Eve will fade into history tonight, please remember that the animals and our prisoners have no celebrations. Please remember Brian and Walter, both of whom have years more time to do behind bars. Every political prisoner associated with NIO shares a belief that the only real way in which to support our comrades behind bars is to escalate our initiatives in the free world, taking bold and decisive action for the animals. And then remember to write to share your accomplishments, make a donation if you can, and make sure the enemy knows that even if a few of us are down, the rest of us are far from out!

While I would normally never publish a private communication without prior consent, I am making an exception in this case to share with our community what one of our Prisoners of War, Brian Vaillancourt, shared with me. I do not believe that Brian wants to sever ties with his community. Nor do I believe that he is concerned about FBI scrutiny while he is incarcerated and inactive. Brian’s letters are written on the back of scrap paper. He clearly has no money for commissary. I believe he has not been getting the support he needs and feels abandoned by us. Personally, I have been engrossed with my campaigns in Florida or otherwise distracted by my own legal nightmare. I am guilty of not having written and supported Brian as much as he deserves over the past several months.
Being a political prisoner is an emotional roller coaster… optimistic one day when you receive news of liberations from the outside, depressed another because you are restrained from helping the animals yourself, and always plagued by knowing you could have and should have done more while you were free.
Here is the letter I received from Brian yesterday. I believe this is the time where he needs his community to rally around him and support him more than ever. To paraphrase Keith Mann, when we have no prisoners, we have already lost the war.

Brian Vaillancourt was arrested on February 9, 2013 in Chicago for allegedly trying to burn down a McDonalds. He is currently being held in the Cook County Jail on a $250,000 bond. His next court appearance is April 29. He wants everyone to know that:
“This is a ‘real’ war and I intend on fighting until my last breathe on earth. And although me being locked up is nothing compared to what the animals go through, we must continue to fight even harder than ever. The enemy is real.”
He was charged with Aggravated Arson 720 ILCS 5 20-1.1(a)(1) [11300], a Class X felony which carries a mandatory minimum of 6 – 30 years in the Department of Corrections. The Class X felony is, short of first degree murder, the most serious felony offense on the books in Illinois.
Please continue to write Brian as he is looking at a lengthy legal battle which will be fought from jail. He greatly appreciates everyone’s letters and support. His commissary fund is now below $100.
